I think as an alternative to classroom teaching, Sesame street is a very creative and appreciable format to spread literacy among children, at the same time to inspire the future of a nation to develop tolerance, humanity and ethical behavior- issues that are usually missing from their day to day classroom based education.
Thank you Senjuti for your comment. I also think the different versions of Sesame street around the world have been successful although the degrees of success vary , and culturally sensitive.
As you have rightly pointed out in Bangladesh we see how it is entertaining and educating our children using daily newspapers , regional activation groups, DVD production, online games, books along with TV programs.
